When Berlin’s largest shopping centre Gropius Passagen in Neukölln is modernised, excellent planning and coordination will be needed. Consequently, high up on the roof of the shopping centre, the general planner and contractor set up its project headquarters in 18 combined ELA office containers. These containers provided the necessary infrastructure for a project as extensive as a shopping centre modernisation.
The ELA container system is split into meeting rooms and lounges, offices, a reception and other function rooms. ELA sanitary containers have been added to the system. There was ample space on the shopping centre’s parking level to set up an extensive project headquarters made from room containers. ‘The individual containers were lifted onto the roof of Gropius Passagen by crane’, explains ELA Area Sales Manager Marc Richter. ‘The modules were then assembled and the finished system was handed over to the customer.’
‘As it can get very hot on a parking level in the summer months, air-conditioning the spaces was one of our key tasks in planning’, says Richter. Plenty of split air-conditioning units and special sun protection roofs were the ideal solution, as the customer confirms: ‘The environmental concept of the container system has borne fruit. We’re delighted with the quality of the ELA containers and will certainly be back.’
‘It is important to provide personalised customer support’, says Richter. ‘Through joint visits and discussions, what the customer needs from the container system quickly becomes clear and we are able to make a personalised offer in no time.’ This is also exactly why ELA containers, available to rent or buy, are a popular room solution on all types of building site.
