The Deutsche Bahn is investing in its infrastructure: in 2020 with a record investment of more than 12 billion euros. 1,800 kilometers of track and more than 1,900 switches will be renewed. In addition, over 800 stations will be modernized. The station building of the Bentheimer Eisenbahn in Nordhorn will also be rebuilt as part of the modernization measures. For the period of the transition, the control center needed a transition building.
Good experience with ELA Container
"Since our experience with ELA Container had been very good, we contacted them again," explains Georg Pehrs from the construction engineering department of Bentheimer Eisenbahn. In a short time, ELA Container worked out a solution for the requirements. In this case, a two-storey container facility, in which both the control centre and offices, as well as the local Berndt travel agency, are located. "As in previous years, this was not a problem this time either. A quotation was drawn up in a short time and the necessary documents for the preparation of the building application were made available", Pehrs said..
Construction in two stages
A special feature of the office container system was the two-stage construction. Firstly, a system of eight ELA premium containers was set up on the ground floor. Half a year later, the facility was extended by a further floor of eight containers. ELA Area Sales Manager Simon Harenkamp finds this very practical: "This is the great advantage of the container construction method. Our customers can expand or reduce the number of rooms as required. An additional floor, for example, is no problem at all. This enables us to react very precisely to the customer's needs at short notice".
Full comfort on two floors
The two-storey complex offers a total of 288m² of space for fully equipped offices, meeting and recreation rooms. A kitchenette with dishwasher is also located in the premises. The necessary furniture could be rented directly from ELA: Angled desk combinations with mobile pedestals, sliding file cabinets and mobile file cabinets. Internal corridors, LED lighting, and full air-conditioning create a good working atmosphere.
Use for two years
Until the new station is completed in about two years, the control centre and the Berndt travel agency will remain in the facility. For Georg Pehrs from the Bentheim railway, this is no problem at all: "The current employees on site feel very comfortable because the containers were ordered and set up according to their needs. Until the station building is completed and a move is made, they will gladly continue to use the containers".
